Just Me

Let's call them what they really are

Much of the conversation on the economy revolves around the wants and needs of the Billionaire class. They are apparently the successful people. They are the worthy people. It would be a disaster if they paid a little more tax and then left the country.

This Billionaire class, however, should be called out for what they are. Modern Misers. A miser is not just a very rich person, but a very rich person who hoards their money. They do not use their wealth to enrich their environent or community, they only use their wealth to enhance their own standards of living and spend on maintaining their priviledge and gaining power and influence. They spend on separating themselves from the rest of society, on whom they look down. They spend on isolating themselves in their own little bubble of elitism.

So, instead of calling for a "wealth tax" or a "Billionaire tax", we should be calling for a "Miser Tax". Tech Misers, Property Misers, Finance Misers: the modern wretched class.
